SUMMARY
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Healthy Living Coordinator provides support for healthy living programs and staff through the promotion of services and programs to members and the community at large to support budget and revenue goals. The Healthy Living Coordinator supports branch operations/services ensuring quality delivery of healthy living programming to meet the branch needs.

  • You'll support the commitment of the YMCA to child abuse prevention by:
  • Report any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor.
  • Follow all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children.
  • Report any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor.
  • Complete all child abuse prevention training as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Provides support for a variety of branch healthy living programs/services for both adults and youth populations, including group exercise, wellness promotion, risk reduction and supporting those with chronic disease reclaim their health.
  2. Promotes, supports members and community participants on the benefits of participation in key healthy living programs to maximize the health and well-being of the community.
  3. Acts as a liaison between the Healthy Living department and the Retired Men’s Club, Senior Women’s Club, Active Older Adult programs.
  4. Supports program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill association objectives.
  5. Expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans and to meet grant goals.
  6. Communicates with club and program participants to ensure proper engagement of all stakeholders.
  7. Promotes programs and services to community and community partner organizations.
  8. Prepares and submits payroll for the Healthy Living Department staff, ensuring accurate timekeeping and timely approval.
  9. Conducts weekly walkthroughs of all group fitness studios to check cleanliness, organization, and supply levels (e.g., wipes, equipment, mats).
  10. Monitors the GroupEx Pro sub board daily, follows up on open sub requests, and ensures proper coverage for classes.
  11. Ensures a strong focus on character development and diversity, equity and inclusion throughout programming.
  12. Reports damaged equipment or safety hazards promptly.
  13. Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Rock River Valley.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • One to two years of experience working in health and wellness programming with adult and youth populations.
  • Personal training, wellness coaching or group exercise experience preferred.
  • Ability to obtain applicable fitness certifications upon hire.
  • CPR, AED and First Aid Certifications required within 90 days.
  • Praesidium Academy trainings.
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION

1 Position
Part Time, Non-Exempt
SwedishAmerican Riverfront YMCA
25 hours per week Monday - Friday, variable daytime hours
Hours may vary based on programs or projects
Occasional evenings and weekends
$20.00 per hour
