We are so glad you are interested in joining Sutter Health! **Organization:** ABSMC-Ashby Campus **Position Overview:** - The Lactation Consultant is responsible for providing lactation consultation and education for breastfeeding mothers at Alta Bates Medical Center regardless of age, race, religion, ability, and economic or social status. - The Lactation Consultant has excellent assessment and implementation skills to assist the breastfeeding mother attain her individual goals. **Job Description** : **EDUCATION** Graduate from an accredited school of nursing Required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred **CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE** RN-Registered Nurse of California Required BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Required CLE-Certified Lactation Educator upon hire Required IBCLC-International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, within 2 years of employment Required **EXPERIENCE** Minimum of two years experience in perinatal nursing or perinatal education Preferred. Minimum two years experience counseling breastfeeding women Preferred. Experience supporting breastfeeding in NICU preferred **SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE** Excellent communication skills Excellent maternal/infant assessment skills Ability to effectively prioritize work responsibilities Excellent documentation skills Effective teaching skills Flexibility in a changing environment **Job Shift:** Days **Schedule:** Part Time **Shift Hours:** 8 **Days of the Week:** Variable **Weekend Requirements:** Every other Weekend **Benefits:** Yes **Unions:** No **Position Status:** Non-Exempt **Weekly Hours:** 28 **Employee Status:** Regular Sutter Health is an equal opportunity employer EOE/M/F/Disability/Veterans.
